We’d like to inform our clients of the release of a new software update for the ClickShare range that further improves security of the wireless presentation and collaboration solution.
Barco ClickShare products are designed with security in mind. Privacy and confidentiality of our customers and their data are taken into account every step of the design, research and development of the Barco solutions. With the newest firmware update Barco addresses a set of vulnerabilities discovered by Finnish company F-Secure through ethical hacking on the ClickShare range. To date we have not received any reports of these vulnerabilities being exploited.
ClickShare firmware v1.9.1 will be released 16th of December 2019 to address these issues. As always, we recommend that customers download and install the latest firmware for the best experience and security on ClickShare products. Once updated to the latest firmware, breaking the ClickShare security would only be possible through hardware tampering (i.e. opening the units and soldering onto the printed circuit board).
We strongly advise customers to:
- Keep Base Units up-to-date with latest available firmware, and ensure Buttons are updated. Updating ClickShare to the latest firmware can be done in 3 easy ways. More info
- Manage Base Units through XMS (Cloud) management Platform to receive updates. XMS is our secure cloud-based solution for the configuration, remote management and real-time status monitoring of your ClickShare and wePresent devices, distributed over different locations.
- Keep Base Units hidden in cases where customers expect physical tampering
